Contemporary/Neo classical

Contemporary is a form of dance influenced by both classical ballet and modern dance. It takes is technique and body control using abdominal strength from classical ballet; it permits a greater range of movement, and usually tells a story or theme in its choreography.

Neo Classical is a ballet style that uses traditional ballet vocabulary but is less rigid than classical ballet. Spacing in Neo classical is usually more modern and complex and is danced with modern music. It brings in expression and flow to the choreography and explores flexibility and story telling.

At Steppes we like to join the two styles together in the one class, so students have the opportunity to explore both styles and intertwine the two together.
